The quilt!

The quilt is finally finished and was presented to Mum to be at the baby shower on Saturday! Thankfully she absoloutely loved it, I was a bit worried about the level of girliness seen as though we don't know the sex yet but she was very, very happy!

I'm so happy with the end result, I think the colours are lovely, I was half tempted to keep it myself! The bedroom is all done out in yellows and beige (she's gone for the Zeddy and Parsnip range in Mama's and Papa's) so the blanket fits in perfectly!

I used small pieces of lace and ric-rac to add a little extra touch, I think it gives it a bit of a vintage feel. The quilt also has my little trade mark hand embroidered tag of a pea in a pod with the initials "P&P"

I used the same beige gingham as Caroline has had a blind made out of for the backing and binding so it will all match, I think the beige also plays down the yellow a bit and adds a bit of masculinity to it.

I bound the blanket with garden twine, the squirrel heart and a giant Hydrangea head to present it rather than wrapping it, I think it looked great! Very different compared to the usual baby wrapping! Very Caroline!

I have absolutely loved making this quilt, it has given me so much pleasure, right from choosing the fabrics down to quilting and binding it. I hope that Caroline and Simon and their new baby will get as much pleasure out of it. I think they will keep it for years and years. Only 4-6 weeks to go now! Think girly thoughts, think girly thoughts!
