Little birdie

I have just made this as a custom order for a new baby.

It is made completely out of recycled fabrics from my scrap box and feathers plucked straight from an old feather pillow. I carved a little leaf shape out of a cork and stamped the falling leaves using acrylic paints.

I also hand emproidered the babys name, date of birth and weight in a Whinnie the Pooh style font around the outside of the tree... I scanned it before I did that so no pics, sorry.

I love how this has turned out and I really enjoyed doing it.

I've been trying to spend a couple of hours a week doing something crafty. There is another one of these waiting to be packaged up and sent out (I'll show pictures another time) and I have been doing loads of work on my Japan painting that I started months ago. I'm hoping to get it finished in the next couple of weeks. Picture update to come!

Right now, it's chucking it down with rain outside and one of our neighbours is setting off the LOUDEST fireworks you've ever heard! My poor little dog is terrified, we just can't keep her settled. I don't know why they have to make so much noise - the noisy ones aren't even the pretty ones!

  1. That is the cutest ever! You are so talented and I am so looking forward to your Japan painting, I had forgotten all about it...We can never be at our Vancouver house on July 4th, because of the fireworks as our Maggie has a breakdown and shakes really bad, poor babies with all the noise.

  2. So cute. You did a good job.
My dogs don't like fireworks either, or thunderstorms. Poor babies.
