Blog Idol

I read a lot of blogs, I love to read what inspires people and what they are up to. I love the different ways people write, how they describe things and the places they send you to with their words.
I love words, I always have. When I was 6 years old, I did a sponsored spell for charity and got every single one right. I even knew the meanings of all the words and I'm not talking 6 year old words like apple or brother. I'm talking big words like diarrhoea and antidisestablishmentarianism (that's 28 letters in case you were about to count - the longest word in the english dictionary - or probably the shortest in the Welsh dictionary). I have always written, I used to get through an exercise book a week at school writing my "novel", now I write company policies for a living but I also write this blog and I keep a travel journal wherever I go in the world. My ambition is to write something worth reading (ie worth selling. Ie a novel).

Anyway, I digress. I was talking about blogs and why I love them. My favourite at the moment is Dottie Angel. The author, Tif, has such a lovely writing style. She's a little bit bonkers but in the best possible way, the way that takes you to another world. A world far away from the one I live in, a world where furniture and sewing machines speak and have names, a world where a dog lives in a vintage suitcase (the kind of world I'd love to live in), a world that is always sunny and cheerful. Tif's life (or at least the life she writes about - I'm sure does washing and ironing just like the rest of us!) is like the most wonderful children's tale, the one you always wanted to hear before bed time. When I read her blog, I become a child snuggled up with a blanket engrossed in a fantastical story, looking forward to the next night when she gets to read the next chapter.

As an avid reader, I was very excited when I saw a competition on her blog to talk about an addiction and in return be in with the chance to win some Dottie Angel textiley goodness. So of course I entered! And I won!

So, dear readers, I will share it with you too. My deepest secret, my most shameful sin, my super sized shoe collection.

My name is Kat and I am a shoe-aholic. It has been 6 hours since my last purchase.

It has only just occured to me that I have a problem, but as you suggested, I have just looked around my house and noticed that I have AT LEAST 15 pairs in each room (we have 9 rooms) there is also an ever growing pile at the bottom of the stairs. I have 40 (full) show boxes at the back of my walk in wardrobe. I have a couple of pairs in my office at work. I have 3 pairs in my car boot. A few pairs at my mums house. I have heels, flats, wedges, stilettos, sandals, flip flops, LOTS of boots (including my latest lovlies which are furry lined with toggles up the sides!), wellies, slippers - lots of slippers, trainers. Black ones, red ones, blue ones, pink ones, shiny ones, sparkly ones... oh god, I'm feeling the need to buy more, I've got myself all excited!

So, yes, I'm Kat and I am most definitely a shoe-aholic. I also collect buttons. I have some shoes with buttons on.
